5 Steps to Starting a Coaching Business and Getting Clients Today

Grow your business
Oct 26th 2022

You’re ready to start a coaching business, but you don’t know where to begin.

We built Criya as an all in one platform for marketing, client management and more for your coaching business. We wanted to make sure you have everything you need to run your business without having to worry about the technical details.

Starting a coaching business can seem like an intimidating task, but it doesn't have to be. So we created this step by step guide to get your coaching business off the ground and running:

1. Decide what kind of coach you want to be:

Get clear on your why

You can't start a business without knowing why you're doing it. If you don't have a goal and vision for what success looks like, then everything else—the marketing strategy, the actual work that goes into creating content and programs, even how much time and money you'll spend—will be less effective than it could be.

What kind of coaching do you want to do? Do you want to help people overcome their fears? Help them lose weight? Or maybe help them find their purpose in life?

2. Set up a website and blog:

A website and blog are essential for any business owner these days because they allow you to connect with potential clients and give them an idea of what your coaching is about before they commit.

Sign up for free at Once you've completed the signup process, we'll send a welcome email with instructions on how to get started.

3. Choose your package(s):

Once you've decided what type of coach you'll be and set up your website, it's time to create packages that will communicate what type of services your clients can expect from working with you. Create packages and pricing plans based on what you offer your clients. Criya is one of the easiest ways to put packages together - especially using the pricing gallery, you can create packages in just 1 click.

For example, if you offer one hour sessions at $100 per session, you could create a package that includes five sessions for $500 and make it available for purchase on the site under "Packages" or "Pricing."

If you're helping people find purpose in life, consider offering a package that includes weekly check-ins via Skype or phone calls where they can talk through their progress over time until they've reached their goals (and beyond!).

4. Inbound Marketing Process:

Inbound marketing involves getting found online by people who are already looking for something similar - that includes having a social media presence. Add your business to Google, Yelp, and more. Add your clients by importing their contact information from Gmail or Outlook or manually entering their details in our system.

Once those steps are complete, it's time to start marketing! Criya offers tools like viewing each client, sending them emails, proposals, invoices and more so that you can reach out directly to potential clients without having to spend hours setting up complicated platforms yourself (or paying someone else!).

5. Set goals for yourself and stick to them!

It takes hard work and dedication to establish yourself as a coach. But those who manage to make it through this growing phase reap a great deal of benefits. Coaching can be a rewarding career in both personal and financial terms. If any of the benefits above resonate with you, then this may be the right time for you to take steps towards becoming an effective coach.

Criya is like the Swiss army knife for coaches. Starting your own coaching business is easier than you think.
